The Mystique Apartment

In Asia, people associate red as harsh and black as negative. However, the fundamental idea behind this design was to restore black to its original state; mysterious and creative, and to rhythmically use red as an attraction. In terms of its usable space, the aim was to open up a brand new composition by expanding the current confined space and turning the kitchen, dining, and living areas into an enlarged and integrated space.

The overall material selection was carefully done, focusing on the two main colors: black and red. Black, being a color prone to fingerprints, required re-experimentation, while red needed to be used in a way that wouldn't be overwhelming. The result is a space that surprises and delights.

This 110 sqm apartment not only elevates a simple lifestyle but also brings together design and practicality as one concept. The design challenges included convincing the cultural norms and overcoming the avoidance of black and red. The process involved using "white and light" to bring out the sheer beauty of the cutting-edge black and red elements.

The Mystique Apartment was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in 2016 for its well-designed, practical, and innovative approach. This award recognizes creations that meet professional and industrial requirements, integrating industry best practices and competent technical characteristics. The design provides fulfillment and positive feelings, contributing to a better world.
