The design draws its inspiration from the tranquility of a lakeside forest, complete with water and mist. The ceiling, made of wood, curves and turns to create layers of shadows, akin to waves on a lake. Large animal silhouettes add depth and fun to the space, creating a soothing ambiance that redefines the existing frame of the waiting area.
What sets this design apart is its attempt to break away from the conventional waiting area setup. The design extends the space's level and transforms the waiting mood, offering more possibilities than just waiting. The interplay of sunlight and shadow in the lake forms a mildness between the people and the space, enhancing the overall experience.
The design is realized using paint iron and wear plastic tiles for easy maintenance, ensuring that the public space can be efficiently maintained. A large, organic physical sofa provides a safe environment for parents and children to interact.
The project, spanning 372.5 sqm, was a challenge due to the large area of square iron mesh geometry segmentation. The design team successfully combined the existing fire protection and sprinkler systems with the ceiling design, enriching the space layer. The light passing through the black mesh creates a sense of displacement, reminiscent of being under the shadow of trees or looking at the sunlight under lake water.
Studio. Ho's innovative design has not gone unnoticed. "Roam Into The Lake" was awarded the Golden A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2017, a prestigious accolade granted to outstanding creations that advance art, science, design, and technology.
