The inspiration behind this project was the curve, a form that exudes a sense of comfort and fluidity. Lin used this concept to tackle the challenge of an irregular plan with numerous columns, creating a soft curve wall that wraps up all irregular wall structures. This approach not only resolved the spatial irregularity and conflict but also achieved an overall balance, resulting in a space that is both visually pleasing and comfortable.
What sets the Smooth Club House apart is its unique use of materials and technology. Lin employed lathi wood, Birdseye wood, zinc fabric, and coffee marble to bring his vision to life. The use of Philip LED lighting further enhances the ambiance, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. The club is designed for high-end customers, with a focus on providing private spaces that exude luxury and modernity.
The project, which spans 700 square meters, was completed in April 2015. Despite its location at the corner edge of an office building, Lin managed to transform the space into a high-end club that caters to the needs of its discerning clientele. The design process involved careful consideration of the layout to ensure high utilization and a modern, fashionable venue.
One of the major challenges Lin faced was the project's geographical location and the irregularity of the existing structure. However, through innovative design and meticulous planning, he was able to overcome these obstacles, creating a space where entrances and exits appear quite concealed due to the use of curve rectification. The end result is a club where each space is comparatively separated, offering a sense of privacy and exclusivity.
The Smooth Club House has been recognized for its outstanding design and innovation, winning the Silver A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2017. This prestigious award is given to designs that demonstrate remarkable expertise and innovation, showcasing a high level of excellence and evoking positive feelings, amazement, and wonder. The Smooth Club House, with its smooth lines and novel design, certainly fits the bill.
