Hunter's Retreat: A Unique and Elegant Residential House

A Design Inspired by Nature and Hunting

The Hunter's Retreat, designed by Karina Snuszka and Dorota Kuc, is a unique and elegant residential house that embraces the individual's passion for hunting and nature. The designers aimed to create a cozy dwelling for a male in his 70s, who is strongly connected with nature. This retreat serves as a place to recharge emotional batteries and find inspiration for future adventures, while reflecting on past experiences and trophies. The design incorporates hunting-related natural materials, trophies, and custom-made furniture, making it truly distinctive.

The design process began with an in-depth interview with the client, a busy businessman and passionate hunter. Special attention was given to the client's hunter trophies, which were properly displayed or incorporated into custom-made accessories like mirrors. The designers conducted a market search to find rarely used wooden materials, such as sycamore, for the floor and wall coverings. The result is a design that perfectly reflects the client's personal history, character, and lifestyle.

The Hunter's Retreat is located outside of Warsaw, Poland's capital city, in a peaceful area surrounded by forests and meadows. The house has a capacity of 200m2 and was built using traditional construction techniques. The interior was individually designed to create a seamless integration of the hunting theme with everyday requirements. The project started in fall 2015 and was completed in late spring of 2016.

This design by Mood Works-Karina Snuszka and Dorota Kuc showcases the perfect balance between contemporary design and the timeless theme of hunting. The use of natural materials, earthy color palettes, natural furs, hunting trophies, and custom-made furniture and accessories creates a unique and uncopyable interior. The Hunter's Retreat is a true reflection of the owner's lifestyle and passions.
