The SugarLady pop-up store is a unique blend of design and fashion. The design team at Prism Design took inspiration from the brand's name, extracting 'sugar' as a key element. They observed sugar crystals and decided to use steel and canvas as metaphors for women - strong yet sweet and beautiful.
The store's design is not just aesthetically pleasing, but also practical. It is a pop-up design, built using simple materials and technology. The most unique feature is the inner connection between the design and the brand's concept. The store's structure is changeable, with the 'sugar crystal' cells being re-combinable and movable, allowing for flexibility in arrangement.
The realization of the design was achieved through the use of 600mm*600mm LED panels for illustration, covered by industrial nylon sheets. This approach not only saved on budget but also provided better illustration effects. The total area of the store was 6000mm*10000mm, with various sizes of display cells and a fitting room.
Despite being a temporary pop-up store, the design faced some challenges. It needed to be simple enough to construct and remove, and there was a lack of sufficient light for the exhibition, requiring additional lighting design. The solution was to create several cells made of steel bones and industrial nylon sheet surfaces, each easy to build and move. Lights were also added inside the cells to make them glow.
The SugarLady pop-up store was not just a retail space, but a testament to the power of design in enhancing the shopping experience. The project, which was built in Shanghai, China, in August 2016, and lasted for two weeks, was a success. It was awarded Silver in the A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2017, a testament to its outstanding design and innovation.
