International Brand Conference: A Contemporary Narration of Ancient Iran

In this project, Touraj Saberivand aimed to use design thinking as a process to create a visual identity for the International Brand Conference. Inspired by ancient Persian motifs and colors, Saberivand developed a logo and visual identity that respects Iranian cultural values while maintaining a contemporary quality.

The International Brand Conference, held in Iran, is the most prestigious conference of its kind in the country. However, it had been criticized for promoting non-Iranian cultural values. Saberivand's design addresses this issue by incorporating elements from Iran's historical visual memory. The logo, with its use of the multiplication sign, narrates the visual aspect of the brand, while the colors are taken from motifs found in the grand Mosque of Isfahan.

What sets this design apart is its ability to combine national characteristics with a contemporary aesthetic. The logo and visual identity serve as a contemporary narration of ancient Iran, bridging the gap between tradition and modernity. By doing so, it sends a message to the oppositions that the conference is aligned with Iranian business needs.

The logo design was solely done by Touraj Saberivand, with the assistance of three other graphic designers in developing the overall brand identity. The project took three months to develop and six months to be fully executed and finalized.

One of the challenges faced during the design process was finding a way to redesign visual elements and ancient memories of Iran in a minimalistic approach. The goal was to create a design that would allow the audience to understand the ancient sense of identity while also appreciating its modern and minimalistic tone.

The International Brand Conference's logo design has received recognition for its creativity and ingenuity. It was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in 2017 in the Graphics, Illustration, and Visual Communication Design category. This award is bestowed upon designs that exhibit strong technical and creative skills, contributing to quality of life improvements and making the world a better place.

With its unique blend of ancient and contemporary elements, the International Brand Conference's corporate identity design by Touraj Saberivand stands as a testament to the power of design in capturing the essence of a brand and its cultural context.
