Woodalls Design approached the Dods project with their Sen5e process, which takes a deep dive into interior design and functionality. By asking difficult questions at the beginning, they were able to form a deep partnership with the client. The result is a workspace that promotes circulation, warm desking, and soft meeting areas.
The Winter Garden on the 11th floor is a standout feature of the design. Inspired by the architectural marvel of The Shard itself, this space provides a beautiful and pleasant environment for employees to relax and gather inspiration. The entire project spans 17,000 sq ft, offering ample space for collaboration and creativity.
Woodalls Design utilized a combination of CAD software and freehand drawings to bring their vision to life. The emphasis was on creating a space that would facilitate movement and interaction among employees. The agile and intense client interaction and interview process ensured that the design met the specific needs of the Dods team.
One of the main challenges of this project was working in an agile and consultative way during a live construction project. However, the deep partnership between Woodalls Design and Dods allowed for a seamless integration of the design into the existing space.
The Dods project in The Shard is a testament to the power of collaboration and thoughtful design. By prioritizing functionality and creating unique spaces like the Winter Garden and the Grand Hall, Woodalls Design has transformed the way people work in this iconic building. This interior design project has been recognized for its excellence, receiving the Bronze A' Design Award in 2017 for Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design.
