Undulating Flow: A Fusion of Eastern and Western Design

Urbesign Interior Design's Award-Winning Residence

Urbesign Interior Design presents "Undulating Flow," a residence that harmoniously blends Eastern and Western themes, inspired by the owners' love for safari animals and their collection of artistic embellishments. This unique design, which won the Silver A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2021, is a testament to the innovative approach of Urbesign Interior Design.

The design of "Undulating Flow" is centered around three themes: the grandeur of gold, the allure of safari and zoo animals, and the serenity of undulating distant mountains. The residence also incorporates traditional Chinese elements, such as Buddha statuettes, and a section enclosed within red lacquer walls with black lacquer sliding doors, creating a perfect blend of modern and traditional Japanese aesthetics.

One of the unique features of this design is the undulating wooden beam ceiling, which brings in touches of nature and waves. The bold furnishings reflect the owners' personalities and the memorable pieces they have collected during their travels. The space is not only warm and inviting but also formal and classical, providing a perfect backdrop for the owners' art collection.

The residence, totaling 165m2, is divided into a master bedroom with an en suite, a Japanese style tatami room with a half bath, a living room, study, and kitchen. It also features three balconies and an enclosed outdoor laundry area. The design is realized through the use of modern fixtures, leather sofas, and bold black tufted leather seating in the foyer, among other elements.

The design process involved creating multiple themes throughout the apartment to highlight the different collectible objects. For instance, the space surrounding the cherub-topped highly ornate guilt Belgian grandfather clock incorporates light grained wood cabinetry and a white marble cherub statuette. On the other hand, a Buddha sits in an alcove flanked by two floor-to-ceiling cabinets with ornate brass door pulls, echoing Asian influence.

The "Undulating Flow" is a testament to Urbesign Interior Design's ability to create a space that serves not only as a residence but also a place to display the clients' collected art and items from their travels. The design, finished in 2020 in Taichung City, Taiwan, is a perfect example of how a space can be transformed into a personal gallery that tells the story of the owners' travels and experiences.

In conclusion, "Undulating Flow" is a unique design that brings together Asian aesthetics and Western themes, creating a welcoming space that highlights the clients' favorite safari motifs and special memories. The design, which won the Silver A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2021, is a testament to the innovative approach of Urbesign Interior Design.
