The design of Recrystallization is a testament to the power of imagination and the potential of technology. Drawing inspiration from the local geography, Wang and Lee have created a space that mimics the rolling, lofty, and rugged features of mountains. The use of more than 3000 punched metal plates, each unique in size and shape, creates a sense of being in a deconstructed mountain range. The design also incorporates elements of the natural karst caves in the area, with round stalactite and natural crystals designed to amaze film goers.
Recrystallization is not just a visual spectacle; it is also a marvel of engineering and design. The construction involved welding large quantities of perforated-plate and golden electrogalvanized stainless steel to a basic framework. The floor is tilted with natural stones featuring black and back natural stripes, creating an illusion of standing on a starry sky. The design also includes sculptures by French artist Xavier Veilhan and a LED movie screen that plays the latest trailers, adding to the immersive experience.
The design of Recrystallization is not just about aesthetics; it also offers a unique user experience. On entering the cinema, visitors are enveloped in a world that is insulated from the outside. The design plays with perceptions and stirs various illusions and imaginations, creating a sense of being in a film scene with a great sense of future or entering into another dimension. The design also includes a ticket window that is subtly integrated into the space, adding to the sense of mystery and intrigue.
The project, which started in February 2016 and was completed in August 2016 in Taizhou Zhejiang, China, is a testament to the creativity and technical prowess of Yang Wang and Lei Lee. The design has been recognized with a Platinum A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2017, a prestigious accolade that recognizes world-class, exceptional, and highly innovative designs.
Recrystallization is a revolutionary design that pushes the boundaries of art, science, design, and technology. It offers a glimpse into the future of cinema and sets a new benchmark for immersive and innovative design. The design is a testament to the vision and creativity of Yang Wang and Lei Lee and their ability to create spaces that not only look stunning but also offer a unique and engaging user experience.
