Grand View Resort: A Unique Blend of Nature and Luxury

Blending Nature and Luxury in the Grand View Resort

The Grand View Resort, designed by Jui-Kun Chen, is a stunning example of how nature and luxury can seamlessly coexist. Inspired by the changing geological conditions and climates, Chen has created a resort that immerses guests in a world of endless clouds, breathtaking views, and the beauty of the four seasons.

What sets the Grand View Resort apart is its incorporation of the traditional Chinese concept of the five elements - metal, wood, water, fire, and earth. Chen has infused these elements into every aspect of the resort, from the furnishings to the design of the separate VIP rooms. The result is a harmonious blend of nature and luxury that creates a truly unique experience for guests.

The resort's entrance lobby, adorned with marble, evokes the feeling of being surrounded by clouds and the ever-changing sky. Large ceiling windows allow natural light to flood the space, while also providing stunning views of the sunrise and sunset. The variations of the four seasons are brought to life through the use of different materials and colors, creating an immersive and dynamic atmosphere.

Chen's attention to detail is evident in the reception area, where the design extends from the ceiling to the wall, giving guests the sensation of being enveloped by clouds and mist. Frosted glass panels with patterns of tree branches create a dream-like scenario, as if walking through a forest shrouded in clouds. The design of the reception counter, with water flowing underneath, symbolizes the unlimited flow of prosperity.

In the separate VIP rooms, the design of sloped ceilings and beam columns creates the artistic image of a vibrant waterfall. Geometric folded plates in white harmonize with the water landscape, while low cabinets made of sanded sycamore depict rocks and trees flushed by the waterfall. The overall effect is a serene and tranquil space that transports guests to a world of natural beauty.

The Grand View Resort covers an area of 354 square meters and was completed in September 2014 in Chiayi, Taiwan. The design team, led by Jui-Kun Chen, carefully researched the geological conditions and the design of the surrounding golf course to create a resort that offers a unique and personalized experience for every guest.

The Grand View Resort was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in 2017 for its outstanding interior space, retail, and exhibition design. This prestigious award recognizes designs that demonstrate creativity, resourcefulness, and a commitment to improving quality of life. The Grand View Resort truly embodies these qualities, offering guests a luxurious and immersive experience in the midst of nature's beauty.
