CTRC Design Consultant's Innovative Approach to Office Design

The Legend Office, a project by CTRC Design Consultant, is a testament to the transformative power of design. The office space, located in Hong Kong, was redesigned to reflect Legend's status as a leading contractor company in the interior construction profession. The designers aimed to rejuvenate the company's corporate image by creating a workspace that was both efficient and progressive.

The inspiration for the design came from spring, a season associated with youth and vitality. The designers used elements of spring, such as the colors yellow and green and natural wood, to create a lively and energetic ambiance. The open plan office uses linear patterns to create a sense of space, with yellow linear stripe patterns of suspension lights and partition frames serving as striking design elements. These elements contrast with the green carpet, making the ceiling appear higher and the space more expansive.

One of the unique features of the design is the use of timber elements in the reception area. These were added based on the principles of Feng Shui, creating a warm and comforting atmosphere. The timber slats were prefabricated and fixed with hidden steel structures to ensure perfect alignment. Natural solid wood was custom-made for the reception counter, cafeteria table, and boardroom, further enhancing the natural aesthetic of the space.

The design process was not without challenges. The low ceiling height of 2.2 meters was a significant constraint, but the designers managed to overcome this by adopting an open ceiling design. The company also emphasized the importance of practicality, requiring the floor to accommodate a multitude of staff, meeting rooms, and director rooms. Despite these challenges, the designers successfully created a space that is both functional and aesthetically pleasing.

The Legend Office design was recognized for its innovative approach to office design, winning the Silver A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2017. This prestigious award is given to designs that demonstrate outstanding expertise and innovation, and the Legend Office certainly fits the bill. With its fresh and vibrant design, the Legend Office is a shining example of how thoughtful design can transform a workspace.
