Cartoon House: A Dream Come True for Cartoon Lovers

A Colorful and Whimsical Residential Space

Imagine living in a house straight out of a cartoon, where every corner is filled with vibrant colors, playful decorations, and whimsical designs. This is exactly what the talented design team of Bo Lee, Junmin Ho, and Ping Xu achieved with their creation, Cartoon House. Inspired by the client's love for cartoons, the designers transformed an ordinary residential space into a dreamy cartoon world.

Cartoon House stands out with its unique features and design elements. The extensive use of wood for the ceiling, walls, and floor creates a pure and clean ambiance. The crystal bed pillar, along with the matching wall decorations and furniture, adds a touch of elegance. The bright yellow bell drop-light serves as a reminder of reality, contrasting with the cartoon-inspired surroundings.

One can easily picture a young girl sitting by the convex window, engrossed in a book, surrounded by the yellow wood butterfly on the ceiling and the metal butterflies dancing on the table. The cartoon house brings the girl's dreams to life, creating a space where she can immerse herself in her favorite cartoons.

The realization of Cartoon House involved a combination of creative design and advanced technology. The designers incorporated cartoon elements into various aspects of the house, such as the door, cabinet, floor lamp, table lamp, toilet mirror, and even an old-style radio. These elements are cleverly hidden within the cartoons or vividly displayed, adding to the overall charm of the space.

One of the highlights of Cartoon House is the study room. As you enter, the cartoon story from the bedroom extends into this space. The translucent polycarbonate bookcase, combined with the rough volcano background and Ukiyoe fabric, creates a vibrant and interesting atmosphere. The semi-translucent grille sliding window allows natural light to filter in, making the study room a lively and inviting place.

With a total area of 80 square meters, Cartoon House offers a private space for a young girl to rest and work. The designers aimed to create an interesting and comfortable environment that reflects the girl's hobbies and interests. By incorporating multiple functions and dramatic design elements, they successfully achieved this goal.

The Cartoon House project began in August 2016 and was completed by the end of September 2016 in Shenzhen. Before starting the project, the designers conducted thorough research and communicated extensively with the client to understand her preferences and desires. The challenge was to express the client's love for cartoons while maintaining a balance between utilitarian functionality and dramatic design.

Cartoon House, designed by Bo Lee, Junmin Ho, and Ping Xu, has received recognition for its outstanding creativity and ingenuity. It was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2017. This prestigious award honors designs that demonstrate resourcefulness, technical skills, and contributions to improving the quality of life.

Step into the Cartoon House and experience a colorful and whimsical world where cartoons come to life. This unique residential space is a testament to the creativity and imagination of its designers, and a dream come true for cartoon lovers.
