Light Shower - Frame View

Revitalizing a 30-Year-Old Residence for Modern Living

This project is a 30-year-old residence near the Linko International Golf & Country Club built by the owner, and is a native Linko residence. The original building could have excellent lighting and view. Unfortunately, when the building was constructed, the geographical conditions and advantages were not considered. Today, the owners of the residence are grown and have formed their own families, and the elders in the family are getting old. Without an elevator, the original condo design is inconvenient for the elder people in the family.

In this comprehensive renovation project, designers Yu-Lun Chang, Chun-Han Chen, and Yi-Chien Wen tackled the challenges of movement lines, insufficient lighting, and limited living space for three generations of people living in the residence. The team's first priority was to address the mobility issue faced by the elders, resulting in the design and installation of an elevator. Additionally, the original roundabout movement was reorganized, creating a long hallway that runs through the entire space. To introduce more natural lighting and ventilation, windows were added to the walls of each space, allowing light to enter the residence, improving air circulation, and providing each space with a view.

The design of the revitalized residence focused on cost-saving measures, combining exotic materials with inexpensive construction materials. This approach not only saved costs but also reflected the restrained and simple nature of the owner. The redesigned house met the expectations of the elders for their renovated home while also providing the younger residents with a fashionable design for their own individual residences, ensuring the longevity of the space for another 30 years.

The Light Shower - Frame View residence spans 214.5 square meters and is located near the Linko International Golf & Country Club in Taiwan. The project was completed in July 2016.

The design was inspired by the desire to create an open-style kitchen and dining space on the three main residence floors, allowing sunlight to shine on the living room and open kitchen. This fulfilled the dream of the mistress of the house to have a space where residents could enjoy the lazy afternoon sun and happy times together.

The Light Shower - Frame View project faced several challenges, including reorganizing the movement lines, improving lighting, and maximizing living space for three generations of residents. The addition of an elevator and the reconfiguration of the original layout successfully addressed these challenges, creating a more functional and enjoyable living environment.

The Light Shower - Frame View project was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in 2017 in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category. This prestigious award recognizes well-designed, practical, and innovative creations that meet professional and industrial requirements. The design is respected for integrating industry best practices and competent technical characteristics, providing fulfillment and positive feelings, and contributing to a better world.
