Redesigning the Straw Packaging for a Healthy and Environmentally Friendly Experience

LuXun Academy of Fine Arts has introduced a unique and innovative solution to address the environmental concerns associated with disposable straws. The Bottle With Half Straw design aims to provide a healthy and eco-friendly alternative to traditional straw packaging.

The design team at LuXun Academy of Fine Arts recognized the need for a straw packaging that eliminates the risk of bacteria entering the beverage. By redesigning the conventional takeaway cup, they have not only addressed this concern but also minimized waste of resources.

The Bottle With Half Straw features a bottle with a dip and a straw integrated into the cup body. This design ensures that the drink is consumed more cleanly, without the risk of contamination. The bottom of the cup is angled at 10 degrees, allowing the liquid to gather at the bottom, ensuring that every drop is enjoyed.

The packaging of the Bottle With Half Straw is designed to accommodate different sizes of beverage boxes, providing versatility and convenience. This design innovation aims to reduce waste and promote sustainable practices.

The project was carried out at the Laboratory of Industrial Design at LuXun Academy of Fine Arts in China. The team, consisting of Du Haibin, Cao Weizhi, Chen Qi, Zhao Hongyuan, Jin Xiang, and Wang Zhenfeng, collaborated to bring this concept to life.

By addressing the environmental pollution caused by plastic straw processing and arbitrary disposal, the Bottle With Half Straw design offers a solution that is both practical and sustainable. It encourages individuals to make conscious choices that contribute to a greener future.

The Bottle With Half Straw design was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in 2017 in the category of Sustainable Products, Projects, and Green Design. This recognition highlights the design's ability to meet professional and industrial requirements while integrating best practices and technical characteristics.
