Black Bear: A Modern Take on Smoked Seafood Packaging

Chiapa Design Team's Award-Winning Conceptual Project

The design's unique properties lie in its creative concept. The brand's main name typography exudes strength and modernity, while the product names follow a clean and sophisticated line. This contrast effectively communicates the brand's premium quality and modern approach to smoked seafood.

The design was realized using Adobe Photoshop for images and mockups, and Adobe Illustrator for vector elements. Although it remains a concept project, the team considered the use of appropriate materials for the segment, envisioning the products in cans and potentially pouches to increase the quantity for sale.

Despite being a conceptual project, Black Bear has been well-received in design blogs and websites, even receiving proposals for publication in packaging and design books. The project was executed in Sao Paulo, Brazil, between June and July 2016.

The Chiapa Design Team, led by Creative Director Rodrigo Chiaparini and Creative Design Assistant Mariane Silva, didn't face significant challenges during the process. The team's synchronization in techniques and thoughts facilitated the creative process, resulting in a design that stands out both in real and conceptual projects.

The Black Bear project didn't involve specific research, but it showcases the team's ability to create innovative designs that capture attention. The design's success lies in its surprise element, with the quality of the product matching the excellence of the packaging design.

Black Bear's Platinum A' Design Award recognizes its world-class, exceptional, and highly innovative design. This award is given to designs that exhibit transcendent excellence, advance the boundaries of art, science, design, and technology, and contribute to societal wellbeing. The Black Bear project truly embodies these characteristics, marking a significant achievement for the Chiapa Design Team.
