Naturally: A Simple and Naturally Space

Creating a Natural Oasis in Taipei

The concept behind Naturally is to create a space that allows nature to flow through the interior, connecting the inhabitants with the outside world. The designers wanted to capture the feeling of standing by a window and feeling the call of nature, witnessing the trees reaching out for the sun. By opening the windows, the natural wind flows through the living area, study-work area, bathroom, and bedroom, bringing with it the sounds and sensations of the natural world.

One of the standout features of the Naturally design is the bathroom. With only a simple waterproof main wall and tiles, the designers have created a space that is both minimalistic and naturally inspired. The goal was to allow the natural atmosphere and wind to flow throughout the entire space, creating a sense of tranquility and harmony.

The realization of the Naturally design was achieved through a combination of innovative thinking and careful selection of objects. The designers opted for no carpentry, leaving only the necessary objects and eliminating any extra finishes. This approach allows the natural elements to take center stage, creating a space that feels organic and uncluttered.

Located in New Taipei, Taiwan, the Naturally design project took place from January 2016 to December 2016. The design team, BRAVO Interior Design & Deco, led by Huang Chih Pen and Lin Ya Ching, overcame the challenges of working with an old apartment surrounded by closed windows and stainless steel frames. Despite these obstacles, they successfully created a space that seamlessly connects the indoor and outdoor environments.

The Naturally design has received recognition for its outstanding creativity and ingenuity. It was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in 2017 in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category. This prestigious award is bestowed upon designs that demonstrate exceptional technical and creative skills while contributing to improvements in quality of life.

With the Naturally design, Huang Chih Pen and Lin Ya Ching have created a space that invites the natural world into the home. By embracing simplicity and essential elements, they have crafted a living environment that allows residents to feel connected to nature, promoting a sense of well-being and harmony.
