Antalis is not just a calendar; it's a sensory exploration of global cuisine, culture, and geography. The design is divided into four geographical areas: Asia, Africa, America, and Europe. Each region is represented by a different taste, with the graphic design emphasising the colour, texture, and finishing of the material used. The calendar's cover, made from Rives Tradition Black, sets the tone for the journey, with a paper spoon bookmark guiding the user through the flavours of the world.
Antalis was brought to life through a variety of printing techniques, including hot foil stamping, blind stamping, punching, and laser printing. The designers combined offset printing with screen printing, using carefully selected Pantone colours, UV coating, and digital printing to achieve the desired effects. The calendar stands at 210 x 230mm, with a spiral binding and 12 pages plus a cover. Each of the 13 cards measures 190 x 200mm.
The project, which started in July 2016 and finished in December 2016, was carried out in Lodz and Warsaw. The design team faced the challenge of creating an original concept that showcased a wide range of decorative papers and synthetic materials. They chose to feature dishes characteristic of specific cultures, emphasising the advantages of the selected printing ground and the difference between plain and textural finishing.
The Antalis calendar is more than just a promotional tool for Antalis Poland's range of printing materials. It's a testament to the power of design, the versatility of paper, and the beauty of global cultures. The design was awarded Silver in the A' Graphics, Illustration and Visual Communication Design Award in 2017, a testament to its creativity, technical excellence, and innovation.
