Mike Amirov, the founder and designer of this project, drew inspiration from the need to simplify communication between the product and the consumer. The design aimed to represent the form from the outside, sparking curiosity about what's inside. This concept formed the bedrock of the product design.
The design's unique properties lie in its intuitive design and integrity. The packaging skillfully incorporates an olive pit pattern covered with transparent lacquer for a finished surface. The logotype, pressed with golden foil, adds a touch of elegance. These elements set the design apart from others in the market.
The design realization technology involves the use of laminated tubes for cakes. The materials used include 2 mm binding paper, coated paper of 170 g, and offset paper of 190 g. The application process involves full-color offset printing, matte lamination, selective UV varnish, and gold foil stamping.
The design specifications ensure the boxes are hermetic and strong. The lid does not come in contact with the cake, preserving the integrity of the structure. The boxes, made of binding cardboard, are resilient against moisture, light exposure, impacts, and crushing during transportation.
The design interaction is a sensory experience for the consumer. Upon seeing the packaging, the consumer is drawn to touch it, feeling the texture of the UV varnish and gold stamping. Upon opening the top of the package, the product itself is revealed.
The project, which began in the spring of 2016 and ended in the summer of the same year, was a result of extensive market research. The team looked into the market of original cakes and packaging, deciding to bring more aesthetics and texture into the design. The result was a redesigned logo, a package with UV lacquer and gold stamping, setting the brand apart from competitors.
The design faced challenges in the selection of color and material for packaging, and in the creation of the logo. However, these challenges were overcome, resulting in a design that combines the first letters of the brand name to form a layer cake. The arrangement of the sign and the brand name in three lines also symbolizes cake topping. This design was recognized with the Silver A' Graphics, Illustration and Visual Communication Design Award in 2017.
