HappyLand Sales: A Dream Pavilion in the Heart of ChangAn

An Architectural Marvel by Yu Qiang

HappyLand Sales Office is a stunning exhibition hall located in the heart of ChangAn, a thousand-year-old historical downtown. Designed by the visionary architect Yu Qiang, this Dream Pavilion seamlessly integrates the inside and outside of the sales office, breathing new life into the charming city.

Yu Qiang drew inspiration from the concept of imagination and memory. The architect believes that people are not only sensory receivers but also creators of their own experiences. By blending fragmented memories and feelings, a new scene can be developed. This is the realm where architects stand, creating spaces that evoke emotions and transport visitors to a different world.

The unique strength of HappyLand Sales lies in its contemporary essence. The architect aimed to create a space that harmoniously blends with the historical surroundings while showcasing the best of modern design. The three-quarter height structural walls were replaced with ultraviolet-proof glass, allowing the live street scene to flow seamlessly into the interior. The collision between shadow, glass, wood, window gauze, and void space creates a dreamlike and contemporary programming language, expressing the quality of the space.

The design team carefully selected materials and brands to bring the Dream Pavilion to life. Bolon rugs, fabrics, marble, and specular champagne were used to create a luxurious and inviting atmosphere. Furniture and accessories from renowned brands such as Hay, Muuto, Moroso, and Tom Dixon add a touch of sophistication to the space. The result is a harmonious blend of architectural elements and curated design pieces.

One of the challenges faced during the design process was creating a dynamic facade that would enhance the overall aesthetic while maintaining functionality. Perforated silver aluminum panels cover the square-shaped site, allowing for air circulation and reducing external noise. The origami-shaped vertical skin adds movement and vibrancy to the building, contrasting with the bustling street outside. The square in front of the building adds a sense of dignity and grace, reinforcing the sales office as a steady fortress.

HappyLand Sales Office not only showcases the property on offer but also serves as a reflection of the lifestyle and expectations of the locals and immigrants in ChangAn. The forward-looking architecture reduces energy consumption by approximately 30% compared to traditional stone and marble facades, making it an environmentally conscious choice.

Recognized for its outstanding design, HappyLand Sales Office was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in 2018. This prestigious accolade is bestowed upon designs that demonstrate creativity, resourcefulness, and a commitment to improving quality of life. Yu Qiang's Dream Pavilion stands as a testament to the fusion of art, science, design, and technology, making ChangAn a better place for all.
