Stone Well: A Harmonious Blend of Nature and Design

Bass Design Inc. Unveils a Unique Interior Design Concept Inspired by Natural Elements

Located in Beitou, the Dong Teng Resort houses the Stone Well project. The commercial hot spring, a key feature of the design, is situated on the ground floor, separate from the residential areas on the other floors. This strategic placement ensures privacy while maintaining the spaciousness of the building.

The design is characterized by its unique use of comprehensive stones. The hot spring area is adorned with coarse-textured stone walls, embellished with different vines. Exquisite patterned stones are placed around the bathhouse, while delicate stone flats are used on the earth. The ceilings are constructed with wooden grilles, adding a touch of rustic charm to the space.

The bathhouse, constructed with divergent stones, woods, waterscape, and plants, artistically resembles a primitive stone cave. The dim sunlight scattering through the ceiling windows creates a serene environment, allowing people to enjoy the tranquility of the natural surroundings. The indoor space, broadly decorated with woods of different widths, establishes a flowing rhythm, with the wooden ceiling grilles figuratively paralleling keyboards, resonating soundlessly in the air.

The project, completed in October 2016 in Taipei City, Taiwan, covers a space of 23027 square meters. The design team, comprising of CHEN,SHIH-YING, CHEN,HSU-YING, and LIU,YU-CHIEH, faced the challenge of creating a calm and natural environment within the indoor areas. They achieved this by consistently using wooden grilles and pervasive stones to construct the walls, imaginatively featuring the cave walls connecting to the other areas.

The Stone Well project has been recognized for its innovative design and has been awarded the Golden A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2019. This prestigious award is granted to marvelous, outstanding, and trendsetting creations that reflect the designer's prodigy and wisdom, significantly impacting the world with their desirable characteristics.
