Ember: A Texas-Inspired Steakhouse in the Heart of an Airport

Rockwell Group's Award-Winning Design Brings a Taste of Texas to George Bush Intercontinental Airport

Ember, a 127-seat steakhouse, is a unique restaurant concept designed by Rockwell Group. Located at the entrance of the new Terminal C North at George Bush Intercontinental Airport, Ember offers a Texas-size wow factor with its dramatic design and innovative features. Inspired by the grandeur of Texas, the restaurant boasts a canopy of 6,225 copper stars, a glass-enclosed display kitchen, and a sophisticated technology experience for guests.

The design of Ember was inspired by the state of Texas, known for its larger-than-life ethos. Rockwell Group aimed to create a concept that would represent this ideology and complement the brand new terminal at the airport. The result is a restaurant with soaring visual interest, situated at the entrance to the terminal with 360-degree exposure.

Ember's unique properties include a dramatic design that provides a Texas-size wow factor. The restaurant features a canopy of 6,225 copper stars of Texas that float above the dining area. Inside, guests can settle into tufted red leather banquettes or take a seat in front of the large, glass-enclosed display kitchen.

The design realization of Ember employs classic materials such as black and white tiles, copper, blackened metal, and wood to evoke the elegance of traditional urban steakhouses. The bar area features a wine tower display surrounded by plush banquette seating, and the kitchen boasts an open-fire, wood-burning grill. A special social media moment is located in the retail area of the restaurant: a sign comprised of fairground letters and neon lights that reads, "Everything is bigger."

Ember offers guests a first-rate technology experience with iPads equipped with OTG’s award-winning customer experience platform, flo. Each tablet offers a visual menu along with entertainment options and flight information. Customers can also purchase magazines, gifts, and other sundries that are delivered to their table as they dine, and even pay for them through the United MileagePlus program.

Ember was awarded the Golden A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2018. This prestigious award is granted to marvelous, outstanding, and trendsetting creations that reflect the designer's prodigy and wisdom. They are venerated products and bright ideas that advance art, science, design, and technology, embodying extraordinary excellence and significantly impacting the world with their desirable characteristics.

In conclusion, Ember by Rockwell Group is a testament to innovative design and technology, offering a unique dining experience in the heart of George Bush Intercontinental Airport. With its Texas-inspired design and award-winning features, Ember is truly a standout in the world of airport dining.
