Revolutionizing Exhibition Spaces: The Cedia Booth Design 2015

Lorenzo Apicella's Innovative Design Transforms Conventional Booths into Immersive Stages

Architect Lorenzo Apicella's award-winning design for the CEDIA Booth 2015 redefines exhibition spaces, transforming them into immersive stages for interaction, business, and community engagement. This innovative design, which marked a significant repositioning of CEDIA's brand, offers a fresh perspective on the potential of event spaces.

The CEDIA Booth Design 2015, an exhibition space for the Custom Electronic Designers and Installers Association (CEDIA), was conceived as a stage. This innovative approach aimed to encourage visitors to gather, socialize, connect, present, and conduct business, thereby supporting their association. The design echoes CEDIA's roots in immersive audio-visual experiences, with four portals or "Scenic Flats" spanning the length of the booth. These portals framed the events beneath them and carried audio-visual messaging and colored lighting synchronized with moving images, creating a vibrant, engaging atmosphere.

Apicella's design was instrumental in the global repositioning of CEDIA's brand and its new graphic identity. The unveiling took place at the CEDIA 2015 Future Home Experience tradeshow in Dallas, attended by 18,000 visitors. The design's broad, impactful visual language brought CEDIA's new strategy to life, offering a three-dimensional representation of the brand's values of 'Vision, Passion, and Community.'

The booth's unique properties included two 10 feet high double-sided AV walls, which, combined with the portals' signage, projected messaging and branding. This setup drew people into, through, and across the space, making each part of it visible from multiple vantage points and allowing for a variety of individual and communal visitor experiences.

At 50 feet long, 40 feet wide, and 20 feet high, the CEDIA booth became the anchor point for the new identity and the main stage for CEDIA 2015’s events and business. The design was intended to be open, elegant, and inviting, oriented primarily to its long primary and secondary aisles, but welcoming from all sides. The booth was designed to accommodate various activities, including presentations, business meetings, and social gatherings.

The CEDIA Booth Design 2015 was recognized with a Silver A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2018. This prestigious award is given to top-of-the-line, creative, and professionally remarkable designs that demonstrate outstanding expertise and innovation. Apicella's design, admired for its strong technical characteristics and splendid artistic skill, showcases a remarkable level of excellence and introduces positive feelings, amazement, and wonder.
