CEAN, the Italian firm with 35 years of experience focused on food retail, has reimagined the concept of proximity stores with their groundbreaking design for Borello Supermercati. With a 360-degree approach, CEAN has created a supermarket format that combines flexibility, an easy and pleasant shopping experience, and scalability on different retail spaces.
By challenging conventional thinking, CEAN has translated customer values into a tailored implementation. The result is a supermarket design that puts human interaction and needs at the core of the shopping experience. The Borello Supermercati concept focuses on four main elements: experience, awareness, simplification, and pleasure.
Utilizing their 360-degree design methodology, CEAN has crafted a unique shopping environment within a compact space of less than 500 square meters. The design team meticulously researched traditional visual symbols associated with the Borello family, incorporating them into the store's illustrations, visual elements, and even a custom font.
The first Borello Supermercati store opened its doors in October 2015 on Via Asti in Turin. Since then, it has become a benchmark for proximity shopping in Europe. The project's success lies in CEAN's ability to manage every single variable of the design and implementation process, ensuring a seamless and cohesive experience for customers.
This innovative supermarket design has not gone unnoticed. In 2016, Borello Supermercati was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category. This prestigious accolade recognizes the outstanding creativity and resourcefulness demonstrated by CEAN in redefining the proximity shopping experience.
With Borello Supermercati, CEAN has set a new standard for supermarket design, combining tradition, innovation, and customer-centricity. This unique concept offers a fresh and enjoyable shopping experience, making it a true game-changer in the world of retail.
