Sanbe: A Versatile and Timeless Table

Combining Nordic Design with Japanese Art

The table Sanbe, designed by Adriana Pardo and Yago Mendez, is a testament to the beauty of craftsmanship and the fusion of different design influences. With its unique features and versatile design, Sanbe stands out as a timeless piece of furniture.

When Adriana Pardo and Yago Mendez set out to create the Sanbe table, their goal was to give it a voice and a personality of its own. In a world dominated by industrial production, they wanted their objects to be more than just objects. They wanted them to tell stories through their durability, quality, and the hands that crafted them. Each piece is unique, adding a sense of exclusivity to the table.

The Sanbe table draws inspiration from both Nordic design from the 1950s and the simplicity and balance found in Japanese art. The thickness of the piece highlights the natural beauty of wood, while the edging accentuates the intricate grain patterns. It is a harmonious fusion of traditional cabinet-making techniques and contemporary design, bridging the gap between the past and the future.

Made entirely from solid wood, the Sanbe table is a testament to the craftsmanship and attention to detail. The designers work with chestnut, oak, walnut, and cherry solid wood, each 4 cm thick. The materials are treated with products that preserve their natural color and texture. The table is assembled using traditional cabinet-making techniques, with splined joints for the boards and mortise-and-tenon joints for the legs.

With dimensions of 1260 mm in width, 920 mm in depth, and 420 mm in height, the Sanbe table is designed to be versatile and adaptable to different spaces. Its triangular shape allows for multiple viewpoints, and it can be rotated to suit the needs of the user. Whether used as a coffee table or a centerpiece, the Sanbe table adds a touch of elegance and functionality to any space.

The Sanbe table was designed and created in Galicia, Spain, in 2014. The entire process, from initial design to final creation, took six months. The designers conducted extensive research on handcrafted furniture made from solid wood, ensuring that the table would be durable and long-lasting.

Recognized for its exceptional design, the Sanbe table was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in 2018. This prestigious award is given to well-designed, practical, and innovative creations that meet professional and industrial requirements. The Sanbe table embodies these qualities, providing fulfillment and positive feelings to its users.

The Sanbe table is not just a piece of furniture; it is a work of art. Its unique design, attention to detail, and versatility make it a timeless addition to any space. With Sanbe, Adriana Pardo and Yago Mendez have created a table that goes beyond functionality and becomes a statement piece that tells a story.
