Transforming Two Apartments into One Spacious and Stylish Home

In the bustling city of Sham Tseng, a couple found their dream home in the form of two apartments with stunning green peaks and a breathtaking sea view. Seeking a spacious and private abode, they enlisted the expertise of renowned designer Matthew Li to merge the two apartments into one cohesive living space. The result is ANGLERS BAY, a residential interior that exudes the elegance and sophistication of a luxe boutique hotel.

The inspiration behind ANGLERS BAY lies in the simplicity and warmth of boutique hotel design. Li aimed to create an inviting and approachable atmosphere, where the owners could feel at ease in their own sanctuary. The clever use of functional and decorative lighting enhances the low ceilings, while shades of grey throughout the apartment add a sense of strength and stability to the design.

One of the key strengths of ANGLERS BAY is its ability to provide both spaciousness and privacy. Originally consisting of five bedrooms and two separate apartments, the design team transformed the space into a single large master bedroom living area. This allowed for the inclusion of additional storage, a larger bathroom, and a spacious kitchen. The male owner also gained his own multifunction room, providing a dedicated space for entertainment.

The realization of ANGLERS BAY involved the infusion of modern and boutique design elements, resulting in visually striking interiors and expansive living spaces. By removing all existing internal walls, the design team created a seamless flow throughout the apartment, enhancing the overall living environment for the couple.

ANGLERS BAY spans an impressive 1,150 square feet, offering ample room for the couple to live comfortably. The design prioritizes functionality and practicality, ensuring that every aspect of the apartment serves a purpose and contributes to the overall aesthetic.

Li and his team faced several challenges during the design process, particularly in creating distinct layers and zones within the open layout plan. However, by understanding the needs, requirements, and habits of the young couple, they were able to overcome these obstacles and deliver a design that perfectly suited their lifestyle.

ANGLERS BAY was completed between January 2017 and July 2017, with a total duration of six months. The design project took place in Sham Tseng, providing the perfect backdrop for the stunning green peaks and mesmerizing sea view that inspired the couple to make this their home.

This exceptional design has garnered recognition in the form of the Iron A' Design Award in 2018. This prestigious accolade is awarded to well-designed, practical, and innovative creations that meet professional and industrial requirements.
