Infusing Art and Serenity into Residential Design

Designers Te-Yu Liu and Hui-Ching Chang have created a truly unique residential house that exudes tranquility and sophistication. With their project, "Picture Perfect Elegance," they have redefined luxury by infusing art into the living environment and replacing extravagant lavishness with calm, poised colors.

The 211 square meter space is divided into two main sections: the living room and dining room, with a semi-independent study. This division allows for both functionality and aesthetics to be achieved simultaneously. Consistent design elements, such as the wood grille and glass sliding doors, create an open and airy atmosphere, while also providing the option for discreet, soundproof qualities.

The living room is a well-illuminated space that features floor-to-ceiling marble wall surfaces with grains that bear a remarkable resemblance to Chinese landscape paintings. The ceiling, adorned with dark-colored wood, corresponds to the color and texture of the wood grille, creating a harmonious and cohesive design. The simple yet sophisticated furnishings, including a sofa and dark brown tea table, add to the refined ambiance of the space.

In the dining room, the designers have used consistent wooden ceiling material to define the space. A stately, neutral-colored wooden long table takes center stage, surrounded by dark wood-colored corridors that highlight the variations in the overall design. The remaining spaces between the dining room and vestibule are cleverly utilized to accommodate art display cabinets and storage space, embodying the concept of the art of living.

Te-Yu Liu and Hui-Ching Chang's "Picture Perfect Elegance" project showcases their meticulous attention to detail and their ability to create a serene and sophisticated living environment. By drawing inspiration from Chinese landscape paintings, they have blurred the boundaries between reality and imagination, resulting in a truly unique and captivating design.

This exceptional design has not gone unnoticed. "Picture Perfect Elegance" was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in 2019 in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category. This prestigious award recognizes designs that demonstrate outstanding creativity, resourcefulness, and technical skills, contributing to improvements in quality of life.
