DA Architects' Innovative Design for DSK Bank Wins Platinum A' Design Award

Revolutionizing Bank Architecture with Futuristic Interior Space and Digital Service Focus

The design inspiration stemmed from the goal to create a recognizable yet highly functional space with a strong identity. The designers sought a different perception of the typical bank branch environment. They achieved this by moving the functional units from their common central location to the periphery, creating a spacious and open common area. The function of these separate units defines the dynamics of the surrounding walls, integrating aesthetics and usability.

Unique features of the design include the long sides of the surrounding walls covered with white vertical louvers, intersected by a dynamic green. The side walls have a superstructure covered with MDF louvers and various units, consisting of fabric-covered triangles. The floor is covered with 1.5/3.0 m ceramic slabs, and free-standing furniture is made of inox covered MDF polygons.

The design was realized in "The Mall" shopping mall in Sofia, Bulgaria, from October 2016 to February 2017. The project's realization involved a thorough analysis of the client's programme and objectives, as well as the possibilities for this specific concept to be realized and multiplied in various locations and plots.

One of the main challenges faced by the design team was motivating all participants to achieve a result so different from the mainstream design in the field of bank premises design. However, the result is a futuristic interior space in white and green, based on pure geometric shapes, in sharp contrast to the visual environment around.

The design has been recognized with a Platinum A' Design Award, which recognizes world-class, exceptional, and highly innovative designs that showcase unmatched professionalism, genius, and contribute to societal wellbeing. The award is testament to DA Architects' commitment to pushing the boundaries of art, science, design, and technology, and their contribution to making the world a better place.
