View of the World

An Elegant and Harmonious Interior Design

View of the World is an interior design project created by Po-Min Chang and Mei-Ching Pan. This stunning design showcases a broad and clear-cut indoor space, comprising the living room, study room, dining room, and kitchen. Located adjacent to an art museum, this residence exudes a cultural atmosphere and offers breathtaking views of the city landscape.

The living room in View of the World captivates with its sea green, grey, and orange-colored couches, which harmoniously blend together. The black frames on the TV wall enhance the quality of the pearl grey marbles, seamlessly combining classical elements with modern styles. The cabinet doors, inspired by Mondrian's geometric designs, add visual appeal and functionality to the space.

One of the unique features of this design is the ample use of large windows, allowing residents to enjoy panoramic views of the cityscape. The spacious indoor area exudes a majestic attitude, perfect for family gatherings that infuse the home with warmth and passion.

The study room, cleverly integrated into the back of the living room, interacts harmoniously with the different areas. Walnut-finished back cabinets, placed behind a long table, create a composed atmosphere and reflect the warm lights, highlighting the texture of the walnut.

View of the World spans an impressive 230 square meters, providing ample space for residents to live and thrive. The design concept, with its plain and elegant style, symbolizes the affectionate bond within the family.

One of the challenges faced by the designers was the presence of ceiling pillars at different heights. However, they skillfully overcame this obstacle by employing the pile-up method, creating a visually stunning effect. The decoration of paint trims, reminiscent of a staircase structure, seamlessly blends the highest and lowest parts of the ceiling, adding a touch of classical style to the uneven pillars.

The dining room, kitchen, and bar were specifically designed to cater to the desire for light meals. The dining room features contrasting dull colors, accentuated by the presence of golden tubes and dangling lights that create a fantastic shimmering effect. A frosted glass partition elegantly connects the porch and dining room, seamlessly merging two distinct areas.

View of the World was completed in June 2016 in Kaohsiung City, Taiwan. The design reflects extensive research and meticulous attention to detail. It was awarded the prestigious Iron A' Design Award in 2018 in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category. This award recognizes designs that are well-designed, practical, and innovative, meeting professional and industrial requirements.

View of the World is a testament to the talent and creativity of Po-Min Chang and Mei-Ching Pan. Their design seamlessly blends art, architecture, and lifestyle, creating a space that is both visually stunning and functional.
