Uooyaa Office: A Unique Blend of Fashion and Architecture

Alex Xie's Innovative Design for a Rising Fashion Brand's Office Space

The Uooyaa Office, designed for a rising fashion brand, is a unique blend of form and function. The design is a gift from the founding designer to his daughter, aiming to inspire her and every girl to stay liberal, authentic, and fun. The design of the office space is intended to reflect this brand spirit.

The design's unique properties lie in its innovative use of scaffolding, typically a temporary feature in construction sites, as a key element throughout the office area. This creates an image of an unfinished site, reminding people to stay simple, humble, focused, determined, yet open and curious. The choice of facade material also plays a significant role, with polycarbonate hollow board used as space partitions, ensuring construction effectiveness without compromising lighting and sound insulation quality.

The office space is not just a workspace but also a venue for runway shows and press conferences. The design of the circulation in the public area takes into account the need for connection between the two floors and enhances the sense of roaming in the space mobility.

The project, completed in June 2017 in Guangzhou City, China, was a renovation of a former space factory warehouse. The original structure of the warehouse was retained, with only simple amendments made to the original ceilings. Skylights were added during the reconstruction of the factory area. Despite the chaotic exterior environment of the old industrial area, the design successfully integrates greenery spots around the front desk and external wall windows, creating a transition area from outdoor to indoor.

The Uooyaa Office design was awarded the Golden A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2018. This prestigious award is granted to marvelous, outstanding, and trendsetting creations that reflect the designer's prodigy and wisdom, embodying extraordinary excellence and significantly impacting the world with their desirable characteristics.
