Y2S was inspired by the idea of combining the sense of fashion with the lightness of a flying skirt. The designer aimed to create a space that not only serves as a place for dining but also for runway shows and fashion collections. The design concept is a reflection of the belief that fashion and dining are forms of art, and the restaurant is designed to cater to the needs of the customers while also providing a fashion-forward space.
The unique properties of Y2S set it apart from similar establishments. The design planning and market positioning of the restaurant aim to provide a quality experience from vision to taste. The use of contrasting materials and colours creates a space-like restaurant with a fantasy show. The dimensional layout of the space, featuring an S-curve stage instead of a traditional T-shaped stage, allows customers to enjoy a fashion show while dining. The use of innovative materials, such as self-leveling epoxy white bright paint, enhances the stereoscopic impression of the stage.
The design realization of Y2S involved the use of oak flooring, galvanized sheet, steel pipe, black steel, and copper plate. The restaurant, which covers an area of 500 sq.m., was designed to be a rectangle with several bearing pillars in the middle. To overcome the challenge posed by these pillars, the designer created an S-curve stage that wraps around them. More than 300 decorative blocks of different sizes were installed from the end of the stage to the ceiling, creating the illusion of walking in space.
The Y2S project started in January 2016 and was completed in June 2016 in Chongqing, China. It was opened for business in July 2016. Since its opening, Y2S has achieved outstanding operational success, meeting the requirements of the owners and offering a disruptive work. The design team included Furnishings Designer Xiaomeng Wang and Assist Designers Zaipan Xu, Yichuan Deng, and Yang Chen.
Y2S is a testament to the power of innovative design in transforming a traditional dining space into a platform for fashion and art. It serves as a reminder that creativity and innovation can break boundaries and create unique experiences that cater to the needs and desires of the customers. The success of Y2S is a testament to the power of design in transforming spaces and creating unique experiences.
