The restaurant, located in Tainan City, Taiwan, spans an impressive 224 square meters. As you step inside, the large glass curtains allow sunlight to dance through, creating a mesmerizing play of light and shadow. The tastefully crafted interior design transforms the delicious cuisines into figurative waves, enticing your taste buds to embark on a culinary journey.
The reception area is a true work of art, with black wrought iron windows and wooden sections arranged in the Mondrian Golden Ratio. This fusion of elements not only adds a touch of sophistication but also serves as a fashionable installation art piece.
The interior decorations are a joyful blend of gray floors, wood fixtures, and a U-shaped kitchen adorned with glass and red brick walls. The bar area is equally captivating, with a wine wall adorned with bottle corks from around the world, representing the five continents.
Chia-Jung Shen and the design team faced several challenges in bringing this vision to life. The exterior glass curtains were strategically designed to scatter sunlight throughout the restaurant, creating a warm and inviting ambiance. The layout, complete with a garden pool and a transition connecting the pathway and lobby, adds a vibrant and energizing touch to the overall design.
Recognizing the diverse clientele, ranging from students to office workers and housewives, the design aimed to create a unique outlook that would captivate visitors. The restaurant needed to strike a balance between visual appeal and affordability, ensuring that customers could enjoy both the stunning decor and the delectable food without breaking the bank.
Chia-Jung Shen's design for Flowing Style has garnered recognition and acclaim. In 2018, it was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category. This prestigious award acknowledges the design's practicality, innovation, and adherence to professional and industrial standards.
Flowing Style is a testament to Chia-Jung Shen's creativity and expertise in interior design. With its unique blend of elegance, modernity, and Nordic charm, this design sets a new benchmark for restaurant interiors, providing a visual feast for the senses.
