Clive: A Paradisiacal Journey in Cosmetic Packaging

Jonathan Nacif de Andrade's Award-Winning Design Transforms Everyday Self-Care

Jonathan Nacif de Andrade's Clive project redefines cosmetics packaging, transforming it into an immersive sensory experience that transports users to the world's most paradisiacal locations. This innovative design approach earned the Clive project the prestigious Silver A' Packaging Design Award in 2018.

Jonathan Nacif de Andrade's inspiration for the Clive project was to create more than just another cosmetic packaging. He sought to encapsulate personal care's essence, which he believes requires a moment of peace and balance between body and mind. Drawing inspiration from some of the world's most paradisiacal landscapes, he sought to bring those moments closer to the sensations of pleasure, happiness, and great memories that such places evoke.

Each design and aroma in the Clive project receives a unique characteristic inspired by some of the world's most paradisiacal places. For instance, the packaging inspired by Hawaii transforms the home scent into a decorative object, with tropical aspects and aromas reminiscent of the beach, the sea, and waves breaking in the sand. This approach brings the experience and positive influence of these places into various products in this line, offering moments of relaxation and inner peace in our daily lives.

The Clive project's unique properties extend to its realization technology. The outer packaging features a finish called matt soft touch lamination, which offers a soft and delicate touch akin to human skin. A printing technology infuses a small detail of the packaging with an aroma that, together with other packages, exudes a delicate and sensitive aroma in the environment, making the product interactive and aromatic at the point of sale.

Jonathan Nacif de Andrade faced significant challenges in aligning the packaging design with the scents of products that had already been created. To ensure harmony between the design and the aromas, he conducted a meticulous study of the perfumes' chemical and natural compositions, including olfactory tests. This research allowed him to define which product line the aroma would be attributed to.

The Clive project began in May 2017 and was completed in September 2017, in Brazil. It was awarded Silver in A' Packaging Design Award in 2018, a testament to the design's remarkable creativity, professional excellence, and innovation. This award is given to top-of-the-line designs that exhibit strong technical characteristics and splendid artistic skill, introducing positive feelings, amazement, and wonder.
