Kebrick: Redefining Beach and Snow Toys

id.real's Innovative Toy Boosts Creativity and Learning

Kebrick, an innovative sand construction set, is a unique toy designed by id.real that enhances children's creativity while simplifying the transportation of beach toys. This award-winning design combines fun, education, and convenience in a single package.

The inspiration for Kebrick came from a simple desire to make beach toys less bulky and more travel-friendly. The designers at id.real, after extensive research and conversations with parents, aimed to create a toy that would not only be convenient to carry but also stimulate children's creativity. The result was Kebrick, a set of basic, interconnectable pieces that allow children to build sand and snow bricks in a variety of shapes.

Kebrick stands out from other beach and snow toys due to its unique properties. The toy consists of three basic geometric shapes - a triangle, a square, and a circle - that children aged 4-6 can freely assemble into any form their imagination desires. The individual shapes also fit together for easy, space-saving storage. This innovative design encourages creativity and learning while keeping children entertained.

The production of Kebrick involves injection molding of ABS to create the individual pieces. The technical specifications of the design ensure that the pieces are suitable for small hands, with dimensions of 114/20/80mm for pieces A and B, and 163/18/80mm for piece C. The triangle, square, and circle shapes each measure 114/114/80mm.

Kebrick was developed between 2016 and 2017 in Madrid, Spain, and is set to be commercialized in the European and North American markets. The design will be exhibited at the Spielwarenmesse Toy Fair in Nurnberg, Germany, in January 2019, and at The North American Toy Fair in New York, USA, in February 2019.

The design process for Kebrick involved a thorough analysis of beach toys and how they have evolved to meet users' needs. The designers focused on the playing habits, needs, and challenges of children aged 4-6, resulting in a toy that offers endless possibilities and encourages children to create shapes and designs without limitations. This approach earned Kebrick the Silver A' Toys, Games and Hobby Products Design Award in 2018, a prestigious accolade awarded to designs that demonstrate outstanding expertise and innovation.
