Revolutionizing Urban Living with Flexibility

PartiDesign Studio's Innovative Approach to Inner City Living

PartiDesign Studio, known for their innovative and transformative designs, has once again pushed the boundaries of traditional living spaces. Their latest project, Flexibility, is a residence that redefines the concept of urban living. The designers have moved away from the traditional Taiwanese way of living with a large TV wall in the living room, minimizing the use area of television to increase available space for better interaction between family and friends.

The unique feature of this design lies in its flexibility. The open-plan space of this one-big-room apartment was divided into two areas to separate private and communal areas with a sliding partition. This innovative approach to space utilization allows for an unfoldable option for inner city living, providing a solution to the often cramped and limited spaces of urban apartments.

The realization of this design was achieved through the use of glass and steel partitions. These partitions not only subdivide areas but also provide additional functions, offer privacy, and create visual separation. They reflect the surrounding materials, creating a sense of disorientation by reflection and perspective. This clever use of materials and design elements adds a layer of sophistication and intrigue to the space.

The project includes an entrance, living room, kitchen, dining room, master bedroom, dressing room, and a guest room. However, the overall space is planned with an open plan, using the sliding partitions to flexibly use and distinguish different spaces. The material and color coding were based on neuter texture, using warm black and deep blue colored wall, tiles, steel as the core design, and wooden floor to highlight the other timber cabinets to elaborate the simple, lively, and relaxing atmosphere.

The design has been well received by the owners, who have reported a boost in connection and relationship between family and friends since moving into their new home. The project, completed in November 2017, was awarded the Golden A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2018, a testament to the creativity and innovation of PartiDesign Studio.
