The design of "Treasure Mountain 64" is inspired by the whisper of the mountains and the changing nature of life, a concept deeply rooted in Eastern philosophy. The house is designed to be a part of the panoramic view of the mountain range, with the interior and exterior blending seamlessly into each other. This approach, known as borrowed scenery, is a technique derived from Japanese garden art.
One of the unique features of this design is its ability to capture the impermanence and changeability of nature. The broad and open design, coupled with the unobstructed circulation, allows the homeowners to experience the changing light and shade throughout the day. Living in this house is likened to living in a picturesque traditional Chinese landscape painting.
The realization of this design was influenced by the homeowner's cherished childhood memories of staying in a traditional Taiwanese three-section compound. To recreate this warm and simple aura, one wall was laid with bricks. The main materials used in the construction of the house include steel profiles, metals, wood, marble, cement finish, and tiles.
The house, which measures 83 square feet, was designed with a sense of openness in mind. Three partitions were removed to create one room, and furniture and ornaments of different textures were selected to replace the original sterile walls. The design allows for different requirements and functions, creating a vibe of rambling through a timeless journey.
The project, which started in December 2016 and was completed in September 2017, was located in Zhubei, Taiwan. Despite the complexity of the design, the designer notes that there were almost no obstacles during the renovation of the house. The result is a home that is not just a living space, but also a living exhibit that beautifully represents the personality of the homeowner.
In conclusion, Pei Chu Teng's "Treasure Mountain 64" is a remarkable example of how interior design can be used to create a living space that is not just functional and aesthetically pleasing, but also deeply connected to nature and the homeowner's personal history. The design, which won the Silver A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2018, is a testament to the designer's ability to create a living space that is a harmonious blend of interior and natural beauty.
