Ocean Collector: A Modern Yacht Design for Art Collectors

Elegant Proportions and Artistic Features

The Ocean Collector is a 60-meter yacht design created by Yilin Huang and Tao Li, specifically tailored for a private art collector. This unique project combines the beauty of modern aesthetics with the functionality of a luxury yacht, offering a one-of-a-kind experience for both the owner and their guests.

The inspiration for the Ocean Collector design came from the client's desire to showcase their extensive art collection while enjoying the breathtaking scenery of exotic islands. The client envisioned a yacht that would not only serve as a means of transportation but also as a floating art gallery, allowing them to share their passion for art with friends and guests on board.

One of the key features of the Ocean Collector is its elegant hull proportions and overall modern design language. The sleek lines and carefully crafted details create a visually stunning vessel that stands out in any maritime setting. The full beam bay window in the master room provides an expansive field of vision, allowing the owner to fully immerse themselves in the beauty of the surrounding ocean.

Another remarkable aspect of the Ocean Collector is its art gallery lounge entrance, equipped with movable side doors. This innovative design allows guests to visit the owner's private lounge while still respecting their privacy and preserving the artistic ambiance of the ship. The art gallery serves as a showcase for the owner's collection, providing a unique and immersive experience for art enthusiasts.

The Ocean Collector is designed to be manufactured with a steel hull and aluminum superstructure, ensuring durability and stability. With a length overall of 60 meters, a beam overall of 12.50 meters, and a draft of 3.05 meters, this yacht offers ample space for both the owner and their guests. It can accommodate up to 12 guests and 16 crew members, ensuring a comfortable and luxurious experience for everyone on board.

Operating the Ocean Collector is a breeze, thanks to its well-thought-out design. The yacht features a large full beam master stateroom with a Zen meditation and reading room on the bridge deck, as well as four guest rooms and two VIP rooms on the main deck. Additionally, it is equipped with a 6.5-meter tender, a 6-meter rescue boat, and a variety of small toys for water activities. The stern sun deck boasts a 12-meter helicopter landing area, while the front sun deck offers a Jacuzzi and sunbeds for ultimate relaxation.

The design process for the Ocean Collector started in November 2017 and was completed in January 2018. Throughout the project, the designers focused on meeting the client's needs for interior space with an oriental aesthetic. They incorporated new artistic processing methods and materials, such as transparent blue resin art, to create a sense of water-inspired artistry within the yacht's interior.

One of the main challenges faced during the design process was the implementation of automated extensible balconies, particularly the extension of indoor balconies with French windows. This engineering feat required careful consideration of scalability, load-bearing capacity, and the manufacturing of ductile balconies. The designers successfully overcame these challenges, resulting in a yacht design that seamlessly integrates functionality and aesthetics.

The Ocean Collector design by Yilin Huang and Tao Li has received recognition for its excellence. It was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in the Yacht and Marine Vessels Design category in 2018. This prestigious award honors well-designed, practical, and innovative creations that meet professional and industrial requirements, contributing to a better world.

With its unique combination of art, architecture, and design, the Ocean Collector sets a new standard for luxury yachts. It offers art collectors and enthusiasts a remarkable platform to showcase their collections while enjoying the beauty of the open sea.
