Beeopic: A Biopic of Beekeeping

A Premium Thyme Honey from Kalymnos, Greece

Beeopic is a brand new premium honey from Kalymnos, Greece, created by designer Sophia Georgopoulou. Inspired by the beekeeper's lifestyle, Beeopic aims to capture the dedication and passion required to produce high-quality honey.

Beekeeping is not just a business but a way of life, demanding beekeepers to closely follow the needs of their beehives. This inspired Sophia Georgopoulou to create Beeopic, a brand that not only offers exceptional honey but also tells the story of the beekeeper's journey.

The name Beeopic is a play on the word "biopic," commonly used to describe a cinematic or television biography of a person. It reflects the idea that beekeeping is a life story, with each bee playing a crucial role. The design of Beeopic's logo features a bee with its lower body transformed into a fountain pen, symbolizing the bee's ability to "write" its own life.

The packaging design of Beeopic is simple yet impactful. The black and white color scheme, along with the bold and tense logotype, creates a strong and clear impression. The glass jars, available in 500g and 1000g sizes, are adorned with sticker labels printed using the offset method. Each jar also comes with a hanged card that provides biographical information about the beekeeper and details about the product.

Beeopic's commitment to quality and storytelling has garnered recognition in the design community. In 2018, Beeopic was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in the Packaging Design category. This prestigious award recognizes designs that are well-designed, practical, and innovative, meeting professional and industrial requirements.

Every Beeopic Honey product comes with a hanged card that explains the biography of the beekeeper as well as details about the product. The jars also feature a space where the purchaser can write the recipient's name, making it a thoughtful gift option. Beeopic products can be found online at www.beeopic.gr.

The Beeopic project began in May 2017 and the first batch of products was finalized in August 2017. The collaboration between Sophia Georgopoulou and the client, Dionysis Trikilis, took place primarily through Skype and emails, overcoming the challenge of physical distance.

Through extensive research of other honey brands in the Greek and European markets, Sophia Georgopoulou aimed to differentiate Beeopic while staying true to the visual codes of the industry. The result is a unique and visually captivating brand that expresses its main values, concept, and quality.

Beeopic is not just honey; it's a biopic of beekeeping, capturing the dedication, passion, and artistry behind every jar. With its distinctive design and commitment to quality, Beeopic stands as a testament to the harmonious relationship between nature and human craftsmanship.
