Black Jack and Black Jacky: A Stylish and Functional Washbasin Design

Uniquely Designed by Andrea Daemon and Andreas Doser

High quality, durability, and aesthetic value are the guiding principles behind the creation of Black Jack and Black Jacky, a pair of monoblock washbasins designed by Andrea Daemon and Andreas Doser. These free-standing vanities showcase an attractive and unique design, characterized by elegant volumes and the use of high-quality materials.

Black Jack and Black Jacky are puristic nocturne (black colored) washbasins made of black Corean, which give them a noble and sophisticated character. The larger Black Jack is designed for use in the bathroom, while the smaller Black Jacky is perfect for the lavatory. Both washbasins feature joint-free surfaces, making them easy to clean and maintain.

One of the key considerations in the design process was to ensure that the washbasins were not only visually appealing but also functional and user-friendly. The designers paid careful attention to the ergonomics of the washbasins, ensuring ample legroom and easy access to the joystick for controlling the water flow.

Black Jack and Black Jacky were designed in 2014, alongside the house where they are currently in daily use. The formal language of the design is inspired by the human body, with the area around the knees intentionally designed to provide maximum comfort. In fact, Black Jack has even been used as a baby bathtub, demonstrating its versatility and suitability for the whole family.

One of the challenges faced during the design process was creating enough space inside the washbasins to accommodate the necessary technical equipment while still maintaining a sleek and streamlined appearance. The designers collaborated with skilled craftsmen to ensure that even the smallest details, such as slanting glyphs, were executed to perfection.

Black Jack and Black Jacky have received recognition for their outstanding design. In 2018, they were awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Bathroom Furniture and Sanitary Ware Design category. This prestigious award is bestowed upon designs that demonstrate creativity, resourcefulness, and a commitment to improving quality of life.

With their unique design and functional features, Black Jack and Black Jacky are a testament to the creativity and innovation of Andrea Daemon and Andreas Doser. These washbasins not only enhance the aesthetics of any space but also provide a practical and enjoyable user experience.
