Concept Store Swind

An Imaginative Submarine World

The architectural design of the flagship store, Concept Store Swind, is an invitation into the story of an imaginative submarine world. Located in Disney's new ecological park near Paris, this retail space embodies the natural spirit of the park by providing customers with a unique experience in an underwater scenery.

Inspired by cave diving experiences, the design of Concept Store Swind aims to recreate the free-flowing forms and deep shades of blue found underwater. Designed by Izabella Lubiniecka, the store combines a unique design concept with the brand's identity to create a truly immersive experience.

The store's interior features curvaceous structures for the display area, organic shapes of furniture, and the use of mineral materials. These elements not only connect the store to nature but also create a real submarine appearance. The changing artificial lights throughout the day and ceiling mirror elements that recall bubbles further enhance the underwater atmosphere.

With a surface area of 105 sq m and a height of 4m, Concept Store Swind provides customers with a retail experience like no other. The store's immersive scenography invites customers to navigate and explore the suggestive space, blurring the lines between retail and exploration. Here, the materials become independent tools, and the customers become experimenters.

The design of Concept Store Swind was not without its challenges. The ecological restrictions of the park area posed a significant obstacle, but Lubiniecka overcame this by combining eco-friendly materials with their resistance to daily use. Steel, in particular, played a crucial role in maintaining the integrity of the project.

The project took three months to complete, with works and furniture realization starting in September 2017 and finishing in December 2017. Throughout the design process, Lubiniecka conducted extensive research, analyzing submarine photos taken during cave diving and studying elements of submarine biology. This research culminated in an "aquatic inspiration book" and sketches that were used to collaborate with specially selected carpenters to bring the project to life.

Concept Store Swind has received recognition for its exceptional design. It was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in 2019 in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category. This award recognizes well-designed, practical, and innovative creations that meet professional and industrial requirements. The store's integration of industry best practices and competent technical characteristics contribute to a better world and provide fulfillment and positive feelings to its visitors.
