Sunny Intl.: A Unique Blend of Work Floor and Administration Area

Connecting Two Functions Visually, Yet Keeping Them Separate

Sunny International, a ready-made garment manufacturer focused on the export market, has recently unveiled their innovative administration office design. Created by renowned designer Devesh Pratyay, this design aims to visually connect the work floor and administration area while maintaining physical segregation. The unique concept not only enhances the overall aesthetics but also fosters a sense of belonging and unity among the labor force.

The industrial unit of Sunny International comprises two primary areas: the work floor and the administration area. Traditionally, these two functions have been physically separated, but Devesh Pratyay has taken a different approach. By visually connecting the two areas, he has successfully bridged the gap between the labor force and the administrative staff. This visual connection serves as a constant reminder of the shared goal and unites the entire production line.

One of the key advantages of this design is its impact on international visitors. As an export house, Sunny International welcomes buyers from around the world throughout the year. The visual connect of the work floor, visible from the moment they enter the office area and showroom, leaves a lasting impression. The sight of a large manufacturing unit with a bustling workforce instills confidence in buyers, ultimately translating into successful business partnerships.

The realization of this design is a testament to Pratyay's attention to detail and commitment to creating a unique space. The flooring features vitrified tiles, complemented by painted walls made from gypsum partition systems and glass. The blank ceiling, adorned with dark grey paint and open services, adds to the industrial feel of the interior.

Sunny International's administration office spans a total of 400 sqmt. across two levels. The ground floor welcomes visitors into a spacious reception area, housing two meeting rooms and a large reception desk. A staircase leads to the first floor, which is divided into three distinct spaces: executive cabins, workstations for junior staff, and a showroom for exhibiting the end products to potential buyers.

The project, located in Kundli Industrial Estate, Sonipat, Haryana, India, commenced in December 2016 and was completed in April 2017. Extensive research was conducted, including interviews with senior executives, work floor employees, and buyers. The feedback received was overwhelmingly positive, confirming the success of the interlinked visual connection between the executive floor and work floor areas.

Designing the Sunny International administration office came with its fair share of challenges. The main creative challenge was to connect the two functions of the building visually while ensuring their separation. The placement of various elements was carefully executed to avoid imposing on the work force and to prevent the administration office from creating a superior atmosphere.

Sunny International's administration office design is a testament to the brand's commitment to excellence and innovation. By seamlessly blending the work floor and administration area, Devesh Pratyay has created a space that not only showcases the work culture but also instills a sense of pride in the labor force. This unique design has garnered recognition and was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in 2018, a prestigious accolade that celebrates well-designed, practical, and innovative creations.
