Shuiboli: A Unique Private Residence Designed by Huang Yu

A Warm and Artistic Home that Connects People

The client's request for a warm and unique home that expresses personal taste and the pursuit of life led to the creation of Shuiboli, a private residence designed by Huang Yu. This unconventional home goes beyond meeting functional requirements and aims to evoke emotions, build connections, and create a cozy atmosphere for socializing with friends.

One of the standout features of Shuiboli is the sculptural staircase that is seamlessly integrated into the space. This staircase not only optimizes the spatial layout and circulation route but also serves as a visual focus. The double-height stairwell avoids an oppressive feeling and provides a breathing space within the home.

Natural light and interior artificial lighting work together to create varying visual experiences and spatial atmospheres throughout the day. The subtle utilization of light achieves a surprisingly charming effect, enhancing the overall ambiance of the residence.

The dining room in Shuiboli continues the design language of the overall space while incorporating metal and wooden veneers to create a contrasting visual effect and a sense of layering. The large French window brings in ample daylight and frames the outdoor landscape, providing an open view that stimulates an open state of mind.

The floor lamp in Shuiboli draws inspiration from the natural forms of molten lava and melting glaciers. It presents an aesthetic appearance through irregular balls and glittering effects, adding an artistic touch to the space.

With a project area of 570 square meters, Shuiboli is constructed using main materials such as wood veneer, marble, and micro cement. This private residence showcases an environment protection concept and sustainability, incorporating natural elements and healing aesthetics with simple hues.

The team room in Shuiboli is designed to evoke a return to nature and stimulate an affection for the natural world. By incorporating life inspirations and aesthetics, this space presents a unique character that touches the heart through intuitive visual expressions. The combination of soft furniture pieces creates a cozy and peaceful ambiance, while various art installations provide enjoyment at a spiritual level.

The project for Shuiboli started in May 2021 and was completed in March 2022 in Huizhou, Guangdong Province, China. Throughout the design process, the team faced the challenge of creating an outdoor courtyard that incorporates mountain and water elements while maintaining an artistic and poetic ambience. The fusion of indoor and outdoor atmospheres required careful consideration of spatial scale and design cohesion.

Shuiboli is a testament to the creativity and technical expertise of Huang Yu. The integration of unique design elements, the use of natural materials, and the attention to detail make this private residence a truly exceptional living space.
