The Imperial Spice: A Fine Dining Restaurant with a Harmonious Spatial Experience

Creating a Rich and Sensory Dining Experience

The Imperial Spice is a fine dining restaurant designed by Rupal Rajan, known for its unique blend of Indian aesthetics and modern design elements. With a focus on creating a harmonious spatial experience, this restaurant offers a rich and sensory dining experience for its patrons.

The inspiration for The Imperial Spice comes from a desire to create a spatial relationship that reflects Indian roots and traditions. The designer has meticulously crafted various installations inside and outside the restaurant to achieve this goal. From the wine cellar to the bar, every aspect of the restaurant has been tiled according to the aesthetics, resulting in a visually stunning space.

The use of laser-cut and bended metal, including brass, copper, and stainless steel, adds a touch of richness to the interiors. One of the standout features of The Imperial Spice is the specially tailored inverted lotus pond. This unique installation embodies the feel of nature while sitting in the middle of an enclosed space, creating a sense of tranquility and connection with the outside world.

At the entrance, a whimsical hexagonal jali installation greets guests, offering a glimpse into the captivating space beyond. The power and allure of the restaurant can be felt even before stepping inside. The combination of dim yellow lights, petunia and teal couches, and triangular installations at the bar further enhance the dramatic and grand aesthetics of the space.

The Imperial Spice seamlessly blends technology and craftsmanship in its realization. The use of laser-cut metal showcases the advancements in technology, while hand bending adds a touch of traditional craftsmanship. Brass, copper, and stainless steel have been extensively used throughout the interiors, adding a sense of opulence and elegance.

With an area of 4500 sq.ft, The Imperial Spice offers ample space for diners to immerse themselves in the rich sensorial and spatial experience. The inverted lotus pond, inspired by nature, creates a connection with the outside world, transcending the boundaries of the enclosed space. The restaurant's various installations, influenced by Indian roots, traditions, and crafts, contribute to a harmonious spatial experience.

The Imperial Spice has received recognition for its exceptional design. In 2019, it was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category. This prestigious award is bestowed upon designs that showcase creativity, resourcefulness, and technical excellence, contributing to the improvement of quality of life.
