Meadow: A Poetic and Functional Coffee Table

The Meadow coffee table is a unique piece that combines the beauty of nature with practicality. Its stylized look of a meadow, with wheat plants drawn in basic shapes, adds a poetic touch to any living space. The table's design is inspired by the view outside the window, creating a connection between the indoors and the outdoors.

What sets the Meadow coffee table apart is its functionality. The large flat surface can be easily lifted, transforming the table into a working desk or a dining table. This feature allows for a comfortable and non-formal working or dining experience. The height of the table and its mechanism have been carefully selected to ensure optimal functionality.

The entire table is made of solid oak, giving it a heavy and substantial presence. The surface is meticulously crafted with a fine pattern of wheat plants, adding a delicate and intricate detail to the design. The U-shaped legs, bent towards the outside and tinted darker, provide stability and serve as a reminiscence of earth and metal.

The Meadow coffee table is crafted using CNC cutting technology and hand polishing techniques. The oakwood is locally harvested in Slovenia and treated with natural oils for a smooth and elegant finish. The legs are dark tinted and waxed, adding a touch of sophistication to the design.

With dimensions of 100/70 cm and a height of 42 cm when closed, the Meadow coffee table offers ample space for storage. When lifted up, the height increases to 63 cm, providing a comfortable working or dining surface. The storage space inside the table has a height of 20 cm, allowing for the storage of various items such as books, magazines, and a computer.

The Meadow coffee table was designed by Eva Strukelj and Ignacio Lopez Sola. The project started in Kranj, Slovenia in October 2017 and was completed in March 2018. Extensive research was conducted to ensure the table's multifunctionality and to determine the optimal heights for different uses.

This exceptional design has been recognized with the Bronze A' Design Award in the Furniture Design category in 2019. The Meadow coffee table showcases outstanding creativity and ingenuity, incorporating best practices in art, science, design, and technology. It contributes to improving the quality of life by offering a unique and functional piece of furniture for modern living spaces.
