A System of Classification for Coffee Lovers

The Poker Kingdom Coffee gift box is made from high-density fibrous paper, chosen for its durability and eco-friendly properties. By utilizing wasted materials from the fir forest, the design reduces stress on the local environment while showcasing the natural charm of Hokkaido. The use of easily decomposable materials also symbolizes the coffee grounds produced during the grinding process.

The box itself is adorned with a rich gold color, representing the golden ground where coffee trees thrive. A combination of aqueous coating, overprinting techniques, and gold tooling creates a stunning visual effect, building "the wall of the kingdom of best coffee." The illustrations on the box follow the golden ratio and golden cut, with each of the four suits representing a different coffee processing method.

The interaction with Poker Kingdom Coffee is an experience in itself. Each suit represents a different aspect of the coffee world. The spades symbolize the kingdom of magic, with the elemental being the salamander representing fire. The hearts represent the kingdom of art, with the elemental being the undine representing water. The diamonds represent the kingdom of technology, with the elemental being the sylph representing wind. Lastly, the clubs represent the kingdom of nature, with the elemental being the gnome representing earth. Each suit offers unique techniques and methods to roast, brew, blend, and cultivate the perfect cup of coffee.

The Poker Kingdom Coffee project started in April 2018 in Taiwan and was completed in August 2018. The design team, consisting of Jiang Hong-Da, Su I-Chan, and Gu Yi, conducted extensive research to develop this innovative concept. They explored professional roasting concepts, sophisticated brewing methods, unique coffee blending techniques, and excellent plantation techniques to create a comprehensive system for coffee enthusiasts.

Poker Kingdom Coffee has been recognized for its creativity and ingenuity, receiving the Bronze A' Design Award in 2019. This prestigious award honors designs that incorporate best practices in art, science, design, and technology, contributing to improvements in quality of life.
