Jade Chair: A Gemstone of Innovation and Elegance

Contemporary Furniture Redefined

While admiring the solid elements of nature, the Stones Collection was created, featuring the Jade Chair. This contemporary line of products reflects the harmony of faceted surfaces found in precious stones. The Jade Chair stands out as a true jewel in any space, thanks to its extensive manual production process involving laser cutting, folding, soldering, sanding, painting, and polishing.

The Jade chair, designed by Katty Kaitazoff, is a bold and innovative addition to any decor. Its geometric and ultra-contemporary lines inject a sense of elegance and sophistication. Unlike any other chair on the market, it exudes a gemstone-like shape that was a real challenge to achieve. Crafted from thin carbon steel with excellent workmanship, this chair is a true standout.

Utilizing a unique "origami" approach, the Jade Chair was meticulously crafted. Starting with small-scale models made of paper, Katty Kaitazoff tested and refined the design until achieving the perfect ergonomic and aesthetic balance. The process also involved creating a 3D model on a computer and producing a full-size sample using carbon steel.

In the Stones Collection, the Jade Chair is available in two options: NAKED and FULL. The NAKED option showcases the handcrafted work of folds and creases, with the entire metallic structure visible. On the other hand, the FULL option offers a cozy finish with complete upholstery.

With its light, beautiful, and modern look, the Jade Chair not only offers aesthetic appeal but also durability. Made from carbon steel, it ensures high longevity. Additionally, the chair comes in various unique color options, such as copper, champagne, and gold, which are currently in vogue in the design world. Its versatile shape and color make it suitable for any decor and purpose.

The Jade Chair project started in February 2015 in São Paulo and was completed in August 2018. It was showcased at the High Design Mobile and Design Exposition in São Paulo in August 2018. The design process involved extensive research and testing, with the aim of creating a truly distinctive and high-quality product.

Katty Kaitazoff's passion for design and art is evident in the Jade Chair and the entire Stones Collection. The journey to create this unique furniture line was not without its challenges. The choice of material was a crucial decision, considering factors such as weight, ergonomics, cost, and comfort. After numerous tests, carbon steel emerged as the ideal choice. However, achieving the desired quality in working with metal, particularly in soldering, took several months of dedicated effort.

The Jade Chair strikes a balance between industrial manufacturing and individualized craftsmanship. Its half-sphere shell, composed of carbon steel triangles with electrostatic painting, can be upholstered or left bare. The shell rests on a steel base, matching the black color of the shell, creating a visually stunning piece from every angle.

Copyrights for the Jade Chair belong to Katty Kaitazoff, 2018. This design has been recognized with the Bronze A' Design Award in the Furniture Design category in 2019. This prestigious award celebrates designs that demonstrate creativity, resourcefulness, and technical excellence, contributing to improvements in quality of life.
