Penetrating the Boundaries of Design: The Penetration Sales Center

Kris Lin's Award-Winning Architectural Masterpiece that Harmonizes Nature and Human Space

The Penetration Sales Center is located in Nantong, China, and boasts a sprawling 505 square meters of space. The project is situated in a unique environment, with a riverside in front and a municipal road on the side. Lin's design challenge was to create a space that could enjoy the serenity of the river view while avoiding the noise from the road.

Lin's solution was to construct an architectural wall that divided the space into two distinct areas. On the side facing the river, Lin designed a large area of glass curtain wall to open the view to the natural landscape. On the side facing the road, a solid wall was erected to block out noise. This innovative design allows occupants to enjoy the river view from the interior area while maintaining a peaceful, quiet space.

The Penetration Sales Center was constructed using environmentally friendly materials throughout. The architectural structure utilizes steel, and a frameless glass curtain wall connects the exterior and interior spaces. The façade of the building is applied with calcium silicate board, a cost-efficient material that is easy to install and complies with relevant water-proof and fire-proof codes.

Lin's design process involved the use of 3D modeling to simulate the dimensions and sense of space. The final effects presented are the same as what the 3D model showed, demonstrating the precision and accuracy of Lin's design approach. The project was completed in 2018 and has since been recognized for its outstanding design qualities.
