Bauhaus: A Bold Leap in Watch Design

Walmir Luz's Bauhaus Watch: A Fusion of Elegance, Simplicity, and Rebellion

Walmir Luz's Bauhaus wrist watch is a testament to the power of design, a blend of elegance and simplicity that challenges the status quo of the fashion watch industry. This article delves into the inspiration, unique properties, and realization technology behind this award-winning design.

The Bauhaus watch, designed by Walmir Luz and Philip Paul, is a bold statement in the world of fashion watches. Drawing inspiration from the Miesian style, the watch is a blend of clean lines and minimal framework, with subtle elements that defy symmetry and conformity. The result is a timepiece that exudes versatility and boldness, a respectful nod to the past while fiercely defining the future.

What sets the Bauhaus watch apart is its rebellious goal: to challenge the fashion watch industry's pricing model. The watch is a thoughtful expression of urban minimalism, integrating a simple business model to create a successful consumer product that doesn't rely on premium price tags. This desire to change the natural order of things filters through every step of the process: design, materials, production, and delivery.

The Bauhaus watch is made of surgical grade 316L stainless steel, coated through a physical vapor deposition process, making it extremely resistant to corrosion, scratches, and dings. Its 5ATM/50M water resistance rate allows it to be submerged in water without internal damage. The innovative quick release system in every All Mies strap enables an easy and quick change of style in a matter of seconds.

The watch was designed and produced from June 2018 to November 2018 in Los Angeles, CA, USA. The All Mies brand was established following the Miesian style, with every product and packaging created to be simple and bold, embracing clean lines and a minimalist approach. All designs are generated through the understanding of their function, tying the functionality of a piece to the establishment of its design to achieve a holistic approach.

The Bauhaus model dictates form as much as it lets form follow function. To achieve a high-end design watch with an affordable final price tag, the team had to strategically rethink design to delivery as a whole. By simultaneously laying out concept and manufacturing processes, a powerful synergy was created, allowing ideas and product development to be symmetrically aligned to design and financial parameters.

The Bauhaus timepiece was awarded Silver in A' Jewelry, Eyewear, and Watch Design Award in 2019, a testament to its outstanding expertise and innovation. The design, admired for its strong technical characteristics and splendid artistic skill, introduces positive feelings, amazement, and wonder. The Bauhaus watch is a bold leap in watch design, a testament to the power of design and the potential of rebellion.
