Unveiling Ling Zhou's Night Sky: A Masterpiece in Corporate Design

Transforming Structural Weakness into Design Strength with the Night Sky

Ling Zhou, the mastermind behind the Night Sky project, took inspiration from a structural weakness - a cement column in the entrance hall. Instead of viewing this as a limitation, Zhou saw an opportunity. By building fish-shaped iron sheets around the column, Zhou transformed the pillar into a central point of the design. The space and time elements became the protagonists in this design, achieved through various structural rationalities.

The Night Sky is not just another corporate headquarter design. Its unique properties lie in the golden time passage that links the hall and the negotiation area. This changeable curve, with its sense of science and technology, is enclosed in a golden space that strengthens the concise and pure ritual atmosphere, focusing on the space experience.

The realization of this design is a testament to Zhou's ingenuity. The ceiling in the negotiation area is covered with ancient golden iron sheets, abstractly imitating the shape of a ribbon. Decorated with strip lighting, it creates an atmosphere of light and shadow. The golden iron, processed into finishes by fluorocarbon paint, contrasts sharply with the bright black tiles on the ground.

The Night Sky spans a total area of 400 square meters. Its design tags - gold, iron, stone, curved, surround - reflect the elements and shapes that define the space. Zhou believes that the office atmosphere can influence employees' input and hopes that upon entering the space, people can imagine slowly, immersing themselves in the plot set by the design.

The project, which began in Chongqing, China in September 2018, was completed in January 2019. The research underlying this design focused on the relationship between people's space, establishing a unique atmosphere. The challenge lay in constructing the top golden ceiling, a task that required repeated experiments and communication. The result, however, was a perfect blend of design and construction.

The Night Sky is more than just an office; it's a symbol of contemporary office culture. The design's uniqueness has attracted visitors specifically to the office, allowing them to experience the design taste with the most authentic soul. This design was awarded Silver in A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2019, a testament to its outstanding expertise and innovation.
