Tattoo Shop Design: Tree

A Fusion of Eternal Trees and Tattoo Artistry

Tattoo is an eternal imprint. This tattoo parlor represents eternal trees as the design language.

The Tree tattoo shop design, created by Wang Yu Han, is a unique and innovative space that seamlessly blends the world of tattoo artistry with the symbolism of eternal trees. Inspired by the idea of tattoos as lasting imprints, this design aims to create an immersive and captivating experience for both tattoo artists and clients.

One of the standout features of the Tree tattoo shop is the use of trees as a central design element. The trees at the entrance serve as a representation of the spirit of tattoo artistry, while the light from the domes above symbolizes the ink. The light filters through the light well, illuminating the waiting room and creating a mesmerizing effect reminiscent of colors filling in pigment needles. This color extends from the floor to the wall and up to the ceiling, guiding visitors into the room.

The realization of this design was made possible through the use of advanced technology and careful craftsmanship. The rounded roof of the central tree is constructed using daylighting glass, allowing natural light to flood the space. Hidden fluorescent lamps are strategically placed around the tree, providing additional illumination and enhancing the overall ambiance.

With dimensions of Width 9681mm x Depth 5130mm x Height 3600mm, the Tree tattoo shop offers a spacious and well-designed environment for tattoo artists and clients alike. The attention to detail and the seamless integration of design elements create a harmonious and visually stunning space.

Wang Yu Han, along with assistant WENGYUCHUAN, overcame several challenges during the design process. The aim was to create a working space for tattooists that is free from shadows, ensuring optimal conditions for their craft. This was achieved through the design of the ceiling, which incorporates silhouette trees that are related to the plants under the center light well. The lighting system, with its multi-layered and directional approach, provides tattooists with uniform light sources, further enhancing their work.

The Tree tattoo shop design project began in October 2018 and was completed in December 2018 in Taipei. The meticulous research and attention to detail are evident in every aspect of the design, resulting in a space that not only serves its functional purpose but also creates a unique and immersive experience for tattoo enthusiasts.

This exceptional design has been recognized with the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2019. This prestigious accolade is bestowed upon designs that demonstrate outstanding creativity, resourcefulness, and technical skill. The Tree tattoo shop design stands out for its ability to incorporate the best practices in art, science, design, and technology, ultimately contributing to the improvement of quality of life.

The Tree tattoo shop design by Wang Yu Han is a testament to the power of design to fuse different worlds and create a truly captivating and immersive experience. By combining the symbolism of eternal trees with the artistry of tattoos, this design pushes the boundaries of what a tattoo parlor can be, offering a space that is both visually stunning and deeply meaningful.
