Lin-Chang Man's "Circularity - Genesis": A Masterpiece of Modern Oriental Design

Exploring the Unique Blend of Tradition and Innovation in Lin-Chang Man's Award-Winning Resident Villa Design

Lin-Chang Man's "Circularity - Genesis" is a stunning representation of modern Oriental design. This award-winning resident villa design is a perfect blend of tradition and innovation, offering a unique perspective on the concept of space and aesthetics.

Designed for a middle-aged householder, Lin-Chang Man's design is a testament to sedate and prudent aesthetics. The design draws its inspiration from natural images, using natural materials and concise lines to create a sense of hierarchy in space. The entrance side is a flexible recreation area, adorned with wooden grilles on the bookshelf wall. The sunlight penetrating the blue-green yarn mantle creates a peaceful and elegant art scene reminiscent of a bamboo forest.

One of the unique features of this design is its emphasis on "circularity," a significant spiritual element in Chinese culture symbolizing perfection and consummation. The corridor of the dining room features a specially designed penetrate tracery, creating a visual effect of "scenery in the scene." The striped glass screen on the side releases a transparent light, blurring the lines between the virtual and the real.

The design realization technology used by Lin-Chang Man is "Different material collocation." The corridor is based on dark marble, and the tables feature irregular geometric lines. The technique of "Blanks," a distinct technique of Chinese ink painting, is used to dye the steel brush wood skin white at the entrance and TV wall. This technique creates a visual aesthetic sense of "virtual/reality."

The design is spread over a large space of more than 264 square meters with a four-room pattern. The original TV wall was dismantled, and a 15 cm platform was added to let the floor rise up to form a corridor. Each 8 mm wide wooden grid cabinet is used to construct the image of a bamboo forest. The TV wall is designed to be 6 meters deep and 8 to 10 meters wide, diverting the space and creating a unique visual effect.

Lin-Chang Man's design is a perfect blend of New Oriental, Post-modern Style, Blanks, Penetrable, Natural, and Different Material Collocation. The design works by presenting the beauty of natural artistic conception through the original state of materials combined with exquisite workmanship. The transition zone of the living room and dining room reveals the transformation between the domains, creating a sense of tranquility and classic elegance.

The project was completed in 2018 in northern Taiwan. The design was awarded Silver in A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2019, a testament to its outstanding expertise and innovation.
